pain & electric like jolts when I look up

I have had a weird sensation going on for about a month. When I look up towards the sky I feel electric like jolts in my arms or legs. When I reach out with my arms and my head is bent back it happens as well. Sometimes it is both my arms or sometimes my legs. Tonight I threw an object up above my head while of course looking up and had an excruciating pain, jolt like electric and then both my arms from the elbow down thru my thumbs feel like my veins are popping and my inner forearm thru my thumbs cannot bear to be touched. Is this a pinched nerve? Is it a blood clot. It feels as tho I have something tied around both arms cutting off circulation.  While sitting here, as I slowly move my head to look up, at a certain point I can feel a twinge run across both my shoulders. What would cause this. I cannot bear any presure on either of my thumbs or even bending them causes tremendous discomfort. Any ideas? I am considering the ER at the moment the pain is so bad. Please any info would be greatly appreciated. Literally my veins hurt in my wrist and the tops of my thumbs.

Hi,

How are you?
It is quite possible that your symptoms are due to nerve compression in the cervical region, since you get symptoms on movement of your head.
An X ray or a CT scan of the neck will help in making the diagnosis.
Obstruction to the blood flow by clots or emboli can also cause this type of pain. A thorough clinical examination is required.
Please consult your neurologist at the earliest. Take care!

Thanks for your quick response. I will see a dr as soon as possible in the next few days. I didn't go to the ER but the pain made it impossible to sleep. Should I see a chiropractor and get my back and neck adjusted to relieve the pressure on the nerve or would that  possibly cause more damage? This morning the pain is mostly from my wrist on the top of my hand straight up my thumbs, both sides are the same. Very sensitive to touch, the underside of my thumbs feel as tho the tendons are very tight and pulled. I don't have insurance so I have to wait until I can pay the fee upfront to get in to the dr. If I do the ER perhaps they can do all the necessary test at one visit and lead me to a DR and a cure. Thanks again for your advice! Have a wonderful weekend.
