pain and cold sensation in leg

I have been having a pain in my left leg from about two inches below the back of my knee toward the outside of  the leg. The pain goes down to my foot sometimes and afterwards I am left feeling like my leg is cold. These are sharp stabbing pains. The pain goes around to the front left half of my leg also. Anyone know what this could be?

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Your symptoms need to be evaluated for vascular and neurological disorder. In vascular disorder you need to evaluate deep vein thrombosis with the help of a doctor. This may occur due to any clot in veins and includes symptoms of pain, swelling/rise of temperature, redness of the leg with sometimes dilation of the surface veins. Another possibility could be nerve root pressure, pressure on the spinal cord and on the tail bone due to any spine disorders.
