pain in back with fluid sack after surgery

I have had a 3 level fusion w/instruments.  mri shows i now have a fluid sack and is causing alot of pain.  I have had all the nuclear test, ct, you name it i have had it.  we are now going to have surgery to see if the fluid is around screws or a spinal leak.  have to take instruments out, only been 10 months since surgery.  there is so much fluid they can't see L5 and S1 to see if there fused.  Could this be really serious?
