pain in lip when lower dentetl plate in mouth

by linda-Kundtz, Jan 16, 1999 12:00AM

I have had my lower teeth for two years now and they have been adjusted severak times
but when I have them in my mouth my bottom lip is painful and numb I have takled with my dentest but no help.
I have relined them myself the pain just moves around my Dentest told me that my dental plate was setting on some nerves is there any help or do I have to get new teeth make.

It sounds as if the dental plate is pressing on one of the branches of the
trigeminal nerve which exit from the jaw and supply sensation to the lips
and face.
The presuure of the plate on the nerve branches is causing these symptoms,
and it would appear that your current plate is not going to work out.
Frequently if the jaw bone has shrunken the nerves are more exposed and
are susceptible to this sort of pressure, you will probably need to consult
a dentist to obtain another special plate.
