pain in right side

pyp
I have had severe back aches for a long time. I know I have spinal stenosis.
The last two months the pain has eased up and all of a sudden I get sharp pain in my right lower side something like appendix. I don't have an appendix. some times it is just a quick pain and then next time it lasts for a few minutes and then is gone.
Could this be caused from the sciatic nerve?

a little over a month ago I suffered a herniation of the L5. I had transferred a stroke patient who dropped dead weight at a home visit. I was working at a mission in Mexico and was able to get good chiropractic care. However, as I began to recover from the acute leg and back spasms, I began to detect what felt like burning in the  right pubic ramus. It continued as I healed.

I am now back home in Washington State and have been under the care of a good chiropractor who tell me this dermatone where I am experience the parathesia is not related to L5, but more likely S4 or thereabouts (I forgot exactly where he said).

It burns, is sensitive to clothes, some time sends shooting pains distally toward groin. I rarely have relief. The pain is between 2 and 4.

I will be going back to my own doctor soon, who is much more responsive than this partner who saw me and refused to x-ray me the day after I returned from Mexico (I had to pay out of my pocket for the X-ray done by the chiropractor as my insurance would not pay unless my PCP ordered it). The guy said that everything was due to herniation...but my back in improving, my pelvic pain isn't.

Any input?

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

I doubt that some spinal nerves may be compressing in spine by the spinal stenosis. By the reason of that nerves from the spinal cord can be irritated causing pain on right side of abdomen, weakness in the leg, leg/thigh pain and numbness, tingling. Few persons also face generalized body weakness and numbness due to other nerve irritation on back. If you suffer continuous weakness and notice reduced strength in muscles or other symptoms, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. These “red flags” could be indicative of compression of the spinal cord and its nerve branches and early treatment is essential if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Further referral to a physiotherapist for spinal exercises could be beneficial and may produce relief of symptoms. Hope this helps.
