The pain may be related to the reason why you had the surgery in the first place. If this is due to a slipped disc or a compressed nerve, then it is possible that this problem is coming back, this time from a different level in the spine.
Another possibility is that this may be a separate problem and may not be related to the surgery that you had. Vascular problems such as atherosclerosis may cause muscle pain especially during exercise. Venous obstruction may cause lower leg pain along with some form of swelling or edema.
As there can be several possibilities, I suggest you have this evaluated by your doctor. Another MRI or imaging study of the spine may be in order.
