May I start by telling you how sorry "I am to hear about your husband. Now that being said the long you wait for a solution the greater the chance that it will become irreversible! The diaphragm will atrophy much faster than any other muscle according to a study by a doctor at the Mayo clinic.
I'm going to make this short as it is 11:35 pm and I am fighting sleep.I went for almost 6 years with a paralyzed diaphragm. I have had surgery to try and correct it. My diaphragm is like cement from inactivity, but 11 months-3 days after my surgery it moved for the 1st time in as I said close to 6 years. It involved a nerve transplant by a highly skilled surgery team in NJ. This years I ran my 1st 5k with my daughter. I continue to train. I plan to run again. I also repelled 17 stories into a a mine shaft. To keep it short, as promised, I'm doing things that I thought I'd never do again, Not sure if I'm allowed to give out the Dr's name on this sight. I'm on so many if you search paralyzed diaphragm you'll find me under various names but the content is the same. Let me know if you are ready to get tested to see if you can be helped. - rwford
