partial seizures

partial seizures

After an EEG, my doctor diagnosed "partial seizures". He also has called them focal seizures. These are not seizures in the usual sense-just numbness and tingling on my right side. I also have experienced trouble with memory and grasping a word of phrase. Is this related to the seizure disorder? Can you tell me more about partial seizures? Many thanks!

Dear Colleen:
The numbness and tingling sensation could be part of a seizure.
Troubles with memory was described by patients who have seizures especially the so called temporal lobe seizures. These problems could be due to the pathological process underlying the seizures and/or to some  medications taken for seizures.
Partial seizures are a broad group of seizure dosorders that are thought to originate from a distinct area of the brain that can be identified on EEG, MRI, PET, SPECT or other tests.
If you have further questions please let me know
Good luck
