peracentral large herniated disk

I have a friend who just came from the Dr and found out he has a Peracentral large herniated disk that extrudes in a cauded fashion> its location is c-6 and c-7.What does this mean exactly.and what are his treatment options....I did a search on the web and can't really find anything specific. Is this like having your neck broken? Hi Dr didn't really give him much detail either....Any help or information you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

Most likely your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of disc prolapse where contact between the edges of the vertebrae can cause neck pain. In few people, this pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head, shoulders, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) that you felt. Other symptoms are like neck pain and stiffness can be intermittent. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar/stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement. In addition, cervical traction may also be suggested by the doctor, if condition is severe. Hope this helps.

It depends on the symptoms. The conservative approach is muscle relaxants, presription antiinflammatories, heat or ice(depending on what helps) and physical therapy .Do you mean C6-7, which is one disc? That is the last disc in the neck.
