peroneal or peripheral

Ive been diagnosed with peroneal nueropathy but have pain in all 4 limbs.Left leg is the most painful. It turns redish purple.Stabbing pains make it impossile to do anything. Is it possible that it is peripheral nerve damage sence the pain  is in all 4 limbs? Cant afford to go to a nuerologist so Im out of work with no money to go any further to take care of this.Please help. The pain is unbareable and nonstop with an average of 350 stabs a day. Does anyone know a way I can be tested. I take trileptal for bipolar but it doesnt help with this pain like they said it would.

Sorry you are going thru all of this.  In April after a 4 month battle with dealing with symptoms I finally was dxed with peripheral neuropathy.  I have seen 2 neuros.  the first one and I decided to go our seperate ways because his main focus was to prove to me that I didn't have ms as my primary care doc had suggested.  As soon as he did that he basically told me that he thought I had an anxiety created neuropathy.  my new neuro disagrees completely.  All of my reflexs are still intact (thank god!!!) but I have a lot of tingly, the feeling that my legs will give out and some pain....???  You can read my old posts if you want to compare exact symptoms.  I have so far been told that there isn't much that will work to help the symptoms.  I am not firmiliar with peroneal neuropathy.  I will read up on it to see how it differs.  I have been doing some streches that my pt recommended.  You may find benefit in them...  If you want I can sort of tell you about them.  let me know.  I also have trouble with my hands and have vertigo like symptoms.  I know how scary all this can be.  I have had lots of anxiety about it and I am sure that is why my first neuro suggested that my problems may be linked to that .  I have always had some anxiety but always very limited, like flying etc...now I feel nervous a lot.  I have just now started some meds for that in hopes to at least get that under control.  Do you think that might be part of your problem?  My neuro told me I don't have anxiety enduced neurology disorder but instead neurology enduced anxiety.  

What do you think?  Also, I feel terrrible that you are having to go thru this alone with your 3 kids.  Do you have any support system?  Family?  Friends?  I sure hope so.  Being a mom is hard enough.  I am so sorry.  You may want to look for a neuropathy support group close to where you are.  Check out neuropathy.org they might have something close to you.  

I wish I knew what to suggest.  Hang in there.  This is tought stuff!

Peroneal is just a localized nerve damage to the left leg, After not having reflex at that knee..the doc decided to do an emg in the office and said it was peroneal nueropathy. At first appt they said it was acute fibromyalgia and muscle spasms. I dont know how they went from realizing it was in all limbs to just just one leg. Yes the pain is mostly in the left leg going from the hip down.I had MRIs done of my lumbar and shows nothing.They didnt use any dye just images to check disc. They checked for MS and I dont have that thank God. I have bipolar depression and was given seizure meds as a mood stablelizer that suppose to help with nueropathy.It doesnt help at all. I had a child 5 yrs ago and I have a blood clot in my inner hip that they say wouldnt go anywhere. It made it hard to recover from c-section cuz I couldnt walk. Im hoping it didnt break up and trvel down my leg. Iv had a laporoscopy in 12-08 for pain in same leg that they say was from scar tissue. Still, here I am again with pain in that leg that is now worse and in my other limbs as well.Ive had carpel tunel surgury 2x & know what nerve pain feels like. Its the same type of pain but in all 4 limbs.I have carpel again in my elbow but Im more concerned with walking. I can only sit and stand for short periods.My leg looses circulation after about 30 mins on my feet.Alot of pain in legs when I sit. No ultra sound on my legs to see if clot has moved. No other nerve test to see damage anywhere else. I dont know what else to do.I was told to beat the office visit cost..go to emergency room & complain to them & maybe a test will be done & then I could pay later. Otherwise I have to come up with office visit cost to nuerologist. The pain is severe and I dont like pretending around people that Im ok when actually as Im right in front of them I am smiling thru some stabbing pains every few seconds. I never know when or where its gonna stab. I cant work and watch my kids suffer as Im loosing my home and electricity. They cant continue to see me turn my & cry cuz the pain is so bad.

I have tried stretches to help. It seems that the more activity I do the more pain I have suffer with later. I have tried to help a friend out with some painting which had me on my feet up and down and using my arms as well. The next two days I wasnt able to get up from a sitting position or go to sit. I felt even more pain. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Once the diagnosis is reached then treatment modalities available are strict rest, loose clothing, painkillers (NSAIDS and opioid), pain modifier medicines like carbamazepine may also be prescribed by the doctor.
