persistent short-term memory loss following migraine

I am hoping someone here can help me.  In 2004, I suffered what seemed to be a migraine, lasting 4 days.  I have a history of hormone-related migraines, but those were manageable.  Upon waking up this particular time, I did not remember the headache, the house we had bought the previous year, or that I had been "out of it" for 4 days.  All I remember is going to sleep one Sunday night and waking up late in the afternoon on what I thought was Monday.  It was Thursday, as it turns out.  I had a CT and MRI during the headache, followed by an MRA.  None of these tests showed anything significant.  Now, in 2007, I still deal with short-term memory loss, but no one can figure out what happened.  Before that last migraine, my memory (short and long-term) was spectacular.  All lab and xray results have been normal.

I know something must have happened during that "headache", but what?  Does anyone have any ideas?  I should mention that I am an insulin-dependant type 1 diabetic, x 23 years, well-controlled. I have low normal bp, and very low cholesterol, no family history of heart disease or cancer, but a family history of stroke.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

In the past year I had cluster migraine that lasted for three months. Then about two months without them.  Then they recently started up again about three weeks ago. So two days ago while I was working at home I started forgeting then I called my husband to come home. I forgot my name, family, my dog. So went the ER and it was slowly coming back. But as now I am still fizzing and having problems with my words. While in the ER I had a CT scan and bloodwork which came out normal and no one knows what happened. It's so scary feeling like u don't know who your family is or what a dog was. I hope there is answer out there somewhere.

Hhhmmm interesting.  I have never had that, I have only had the memory loss during the migraine.  The memory went out the door, completely.  I had no knowledge of where I was (i recognized the place, but could not name it, or remember what type of building it was), had no idea of people's names, not even my own, and when others were calling out names, I was wondering to myself if in fact they were calling me.  At one point, I could not remember any words either.  Because I was not speaking, people thought I was choking.  Things slowly started coming back though after about 10 mins.  Everything was not entirely back to normal though as I thought.  Everything eventuallt cleared up after about 2 to 3 hours.  My memory is A+ now.

hmmmm...I guess I have to be an idiot who cannot construct a sensible sentence or be able to spell any better than a 4 year old in order to get a response.  The wealth of information and support I have received from this site is beyond anything I ever expected...many thanks, but I think I shall turn my fact-finding efforts to those educated enough to respond thoughtfully and legibly, if at all...
