pinched nerve?

by nf6, Oct 22, 2007 06:45PM
I have a problem with neck pain, numbness tingling of hands )both weakness in the left forearm, sore left shoulder. I was told by a neurologist a number of years ago that I had carpel tunnel syndrom (syndrome) ( I was diagnosed using the nerve probes, I  did nothing except wear splints for my wrists) The problem has now involved my left thumb at the base, my palm and my wrist bone ache with pain in my arm and wrist which comes and goes...the problem seems to get worse at night ( I have not been wearing the wrist splints but intend to from now on)  I am 55 and am a very large chested female with poor posture and the weight of a bra on my shoulders has made matters worse .  I alway thought that a breast reduction would alleviate the pain in my neck and shoulder as well as ease the pain in my wrist ( I was approved for surgery but have a history with problems with anesthesia.  Frankly it all seems connected  who can I go to for help with this.  Frankly I really do not want surgery but feel that I need a comprehensive exam that takes in to consideration all of my physical problems.

wow. we sound almost like twins! i have the exact same problems - pain/numbness in both hands, left shoulder, neck, left arm. saw the orthopedic surgeon last week for my severe carpal tunnel. he says the neck/shoulder/arm problems are not from the cts but are coming from my cervical spine. i have bulging discs, facet hypertrophy narrowing my left foramen. i too have very large boobs. might be your problem, too. let me know what you find out.
