please help...no one has answers

Recently I was standing in line for about 15 minutes.  When I went to leave my legs didn't work properly.  Over the course of the next 24 hours I became so weak and unable to move I was hospitalized.  MRI of complete spine showed some degenceration of cervical spine and herniated disk in lower back l5 - s1.  But I started having spasms too..body would get very rigid and I would end up in a ball until they did injection of ativan intermuscularrly.  If forced to stand I will start to spasm.  I am numb everywhere.  Muvscles get very titght and rigid.  It is better after rest.

I was in and out of the hospital and no one seems to have any answers.  My doctor suggested Primary Lateral Sclerosis but I went to Shands and they didn't think it was that diagnosis. My body is jerking and ataxic often I have been put on baclofan which seems to help with some of the spasming.

I feel like I am loosing my sanity.  I am so sick...difficult to functioon and I think the medical community thinks I am crazy.

Any input is really helpful.
Erika

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

In slipped disc or disc prolapse along with lateral sclerosis conditions symptoms may originate due to nerve root pressure, pressure on the spinal cord and pressure on the tail bone. Common symptoms could be paralysis of muscles, pain radiating to the arms or legs, leg pain and numbness, tingling, or weakness. Warning symptoms can include loss of control of the bladder function, paralysis & spasticity of both the legs. Since you are suffering continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in legs, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away. Further referral to a physiotherapist for spinal exercises could be beneficial and may produce relief of symptoms. Hope this helps. Take Care & Stay Healthy!!!
