possible acoustic neuroma

by lizziemac228, Oct 23, 2007 08:06PM
I had an MRI - BRAIN  W/O & W CONTRAST because I have loss my sense of taste.  "On the T1-weighted sagittal post-Gadolinium images there is a tiny focus of enhancement projecting along the more lateral aspect of the left internal auditory canal.  Impression:  Tiny focus of equivocal enhancement left internal autitory canal seen only on coronal images.  This is a 1-slice finding not confirmed on the axial projection but a tiny intracanalicular acoustic neuroma cannot be excluded."

I have no hearing loss and was very surprised to see this.  It scares me.  Can anyone tell me if this could mean nothing significant, or if it's likely an acoustic neuroma?  I will have repeat MRI but am anxious.

Thank you.
