possible dandy walker cyst

by Tricialee, Apr 27, 2009 06:16PM
In a CAT scan done due to a head injury (slight concussion), the ER doctor advised that he found an incidental cyst in my 18 year old son's fourth ventricle. My son has never had any other injuries to his head. The doctor thought it was possibly a Dandy Walker cyst but my research shows symptoms that he simply doesn't have. In fact, he has no symptoms at all. We are following up with an MRI. My question: Is it possibly a Dandy Walker cyst that didn't grow enough when my son's brain was developing to create the problems typically associated with this type of cyst (according to my research)? Alternatively, what other type of cyst would be present in the fourth ventricle while presenting no symptoms at all?
Thank you for any help- I am concerned.
