post cabg

I am a 49 year old male who is 12 weeks post cabg (x4).  The radial artery was removed from my right arm and the saphenus vein from my left leg.  With 10-14 days my leg was discomfort free.  Yet now after 3 months I still have no feeling in the thumb and forefinger of my right hand.  Am I ever going to regain the feeling in this are?  Why is it numb in the first place?  Should I seek the attention of a Neurologist?

thanks

HI,
The numbness reported by you in your thumb and forefinger(?Index) is quite unusual to occur after a radial artery harvest. Caliber2005 had tried to explain you the reason behind.
The involvement of the sensory nerve is the possible  reason for this. Now do kindly mention the exact disability you have.
1. Are all movements of thumb present
2. The mapping of numbness - palmar side or dorsal side.

Hi,
How are you doing now?
Well, it is uncommon to have numbness in thumb or forefinger after removal of radial artery. It suggests that there is some disruption in peripheral nerve supply to thumb. The nerve supply to thumb is from radial nerve, which lies in close approximation with radial artery.
Are you able to use thumb and forefinger for all routine work?
If so, then this can be a temporary concern, which will take time to heal.
Alternatively you can take help of neurologist, to evaluate your nerve supply and advice some nerve conduction test.
You can also take help of physiotherapist.
