Hi there. These whooshing sounds need to be investigated and is mostly pulsatile tinnitus due to irregular blood flow to the ear. This is a consequence of abnormal flow of blood in vessels situated within the neck or head. It happens when blood flow in the neck or head is disturbed. Since it has presented after a craniotomy, you need to consult the neurosurgeon immediately for a systematic assessment of pulsatile tinnitus. Other investigations would be required like MRI scan head or MRA. Hope this helps. Take care.
