post viral ENCATHILITUS`

My husband has been in hospital for over a month. He has viral encaphilitus. His symptons were vomiting, headaches and lose of appetite. One day he had a seizure and was taken to hosptal where his seizures continued for a week.  he was given medication for the virus - however the medication was not stopping the fits. His fits were so regular that he was never in a state of conciousness.  Doctors took the decision to admit him to the intensive care unit where he was sedated. he was in iintensive care for over 4 weeks. He was on thiopentyn for a 5 days and woke up several days later.  He is now in the Neuro HDU - he is awake his fits have stopped but he is still on several anti epileptic drugs inc steroids. He remembers most people but i feel there are gaps in his memory.  He has been saying some very random and upsetting things.  i think if i wasnt there when he had woken he probably wouldnt know who i was...we have been married for a yr....when he had woken up he was very very emtional and has been referred to a neuropsych. Obviously i dontknow anything about how he will recover...or what he will need...or his current frame of mind...
