prednisone

prednisone

I have a family member that has been taking prednisone for about 20 years and they just recently was treated for a brain tumor and the tumor was not cancerous. The question that I have is could the prednisone had any chance of causing or linked to the tumor in any way. The reason being is that I have herd of steroids linked to cancer. I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me any info to this.

Hi,

Why was prednisone being taken? What type of brain tumor has been detected?

What symptoms does he/she have currently?

Most of the brain tumor patients are prescribed steroid medications to decrease the surrounding brain edema.

The chances that the steroid medication is responsible for the brain tumor is not very likely.

You would need to update us on the above details and a little about the medical history to be able to help you with your query.

Regards.
