prolonged meningitis symptoms

I have been diagnosed with cerebral arachnoiditis following viral meningitis. I was told by the specialist that I am the first person in America to get this in over 50 years. I have read forums from other people who seem to have the same thing. I would sure like to be in touch with someone else who is going through the same thing.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Arachnoiditis is an inflammation of the brain membrane that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. Sometimes this membrane can become inflamed because of adverse reactions to chemicals, infection from bacteria or viruses, injury to the spine, spinal nervescompression or complications from spinal surgery. There is no permanent cure, however some cytokine medications have shown some positive results. I would suggest to consult a neurologist to get a better insight of your medical situation. Hope this helps.
