provigil side effects

Hello,I am a 51 year old male, diagnosed with sleep apnia (apnea) and curently seeing a doctor in regards to test anxiety.I have worked as a volunteer at a local pediatric hospital as a clinical aid since 2007,aproxamatly 3-4 months back I started taking Provigil200mg,before it was prescribed(I had samples)I only used it on the days I was in the clinic.A couple of months ago,I was released from my possition at the clinic and when I enquired as to why,I was told that I had become threatning and demanding, disrupting clinic with my demands, and generly being threatningThis may be why no one aproched me about it.But my job performance was top notch.
I do have a strong personality, but I would never, ever threaten any on on the job,and I knew that I was in not in a possition to be demanding to any one, indeed,I conducted my self in a profesional manner since I started there and have a glowing reference letter from the head ortho tech.
I understand that with provigil, there are less common side effects of mood change which are considered severe, based on when I started takeing the drug, and when all this alegedly occured, could it be possible that Provigil was at least part of the cause?

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor.

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

Sorry to hear about your work situation. However, I cannot say that provigil caused or played a role in your aggressiveness at work. Provigil does have side effects with the most common being headache, nausea and vomiting, nervousness, anxiety, and insomnia. During the drug studies <1% of the group had changes attributed to agitation. I would suggest that you follow up with a psychiatrist to discuss your recent mood changes and medication usage.

Thank you for this opportunity to answer your questions, I hope you find the information I have provided useful, good luck.
