recuperation after AVM burst in the corpus collosum

My son now 18 yrs,had a avm burst and was in the ICU for 17 days in july 2006. After that doctors found that he has three AVMs. He is recuperating very well but he has serious problem learning and expressing himself. He avoids reading and writing. He has appeared for his O levels. He has cleared Maths Physics and English, but thrice failed to clear business studies and ICT, which are relatively easier subject. This is despite lot of tution and guidance. He seems to go blank during exams and thus leaves questions unanswered.
We have done one embolization in oct 2006 and then multiple point (3) gamma knife in feb 2007.
In july 2009, the doctor has done his DCA (Angiogram) and says the avm has almost gone.
We are worried about recurrance of avm and recuperation from post haemorrhage.
can somebody help please.
He is still very young and has a long way to go.

Hi, Thank you for your question.Though there is no sure success treatment of AVM rupture, but symptomatic treatment may provide some relief in recurring symptoms.  Embolization that is cutting of the blood supply may provide some relief in small AVMs but still not a proven therapy. I would suggest you to meet your treating doctor for symptomatic treatment option in your case. Hope this helps.
