rheumatoid arthritis maybe?

by Debie-S, May 30, 1998 12:00AM

Hi:  I am a 35 year old female.  I just had some blood work done to check my rheumatoid factor
and it came back according to the nurse and doctor, extremely elevated.  So whe referred me to a rheumatologist.  He did the ususal examination and then
told me that I PROBABLY had early onset rheumatoid arthritis even though I didn't look like I had it.  But because my factor was SO elevated he wanted to run some more
blood test.  He did and they all came back normal.  For the last year I have been extremely tired and have had very sore joints mainly in my hands and wrist
and in my back.  I have DJD in my spine.  I takes me about 4 to 5 hours in the morning before I stop aching.  My question to you is could this be signs of
something more serious than rheumatoid arthritis?  I do have an Aunt who was just diagnosed with MS (48 yrs old)?  Could this be a possibility?  I really need some better answers than
what I have been getting.   PLEASE HELP!

Although fatigue is often seen in MS nothing I hear in your story sounds like MS. If you have concerns about an underlying neurologic disorder, and it sounds like you do I would recommend an evaluation by a neurologist. If you would like to see a CCF neurologist cal 216 444 5559.
