rhs head swelling

The right hand side by chewing muscle swells up often and it hurts pretty bad.  I put ice on it and it goes down but then it comes right back.  Is there a test to figure out what this swelling is and what is causing it? Is this a symptom of the condition "TMJ" ?  The pain is pretty severe and persistant. Please help!

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
There is a possibility that the swelling is due to strained muscle in that region. However the possibility of TMJ cannot be ruled out completely. Please get yourself evaluated by your dentist.
Take care!
