Hi...I am 47 years old and have recently diagnosed with rsd in both hands...I am searching for answers, any input would be appreciated, Mini version of my story...Was referred to orthopedic surgeron for carpal tunnel , had emg done which confirmed this..He said the redness, warmth, swelling,( pain was related to ct)  was unrelated to carpal tunnel. Went ahead with surgery... My current pain management dr. said I had the rsd before ct surgery...would the surgery worsen the rsd? Neurologica opinion- would surgery on an area with rsd worsen it? Thank you so much for any opinions! tresa

Hello Dear,

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy can be due to some injury, symptoms may appear after a surgery, nerve trauma or infection. There are chances of the RSD to worsen after the surgery.
Treatment includes use of local anesthetics and physical exercises. You should consult your physician regarding the treatement options.
