schwannoma in pregnancy

Hello, i have a schwannoma of the right popliteal fossa, wrapped around my sciatic nerve.  i am now 37 weeks pregnant and the pain has become intolerable.  I am having a c-section in a week's time which we hope will mean the pain reduces to bearable levels (and then i will have surgery later on the schwannoma).  My question is: i realise there is nothing i can take for the pain now, but immediately after the birth and given i will NOT be breastfeeding - what can i take for pain relief?  It seems opiates are the best/only option for a few days, until the tumour starts to shrink a little and i get a little natural relief?  thanks for any insights

Hi,

Thanks for writing in.
Yes opiates are a good option for managing pain arising from schwanoma after pregnancy especially since you will not be breast feeding. You can also discuss the option of surgery also with your specialist.
