seen neurologist for burning symptoms, but still need advice

I saw a neurologist for all my burning tingling and numbness and aches and pains thats been going on , on and off since xmas day and he said that i have a virus in my system affecting my peripheral nervous system as i have had no symptoms on the actual trunk of my body and said that an mri wasn't necessary that he was 99.999% sure i don't have ms. However, since then i have had burning the back of my neck and a bit down my spine. should i contact him again or am i just worrying myself far too much? i am so fed up of all this! anyone got any advice? thanks

Stomach pain, weight loss, anxiety/depression and this whole burning thing is exactly what I'm going through!!!!!! Its driving me crazy! Doctors have found nothing wrong with me and just keep saying i have ibs and a neuro virus. Do you think I should have an mri to be on the safe side? My neurologist said he didn't think it was necessary but now I'm not sure what to do as the burning drives me crazy! Hannah

I feel like I am reading my own story! I began having pins/needles in left hand, arm then onto right hand/arm then right leg/foot and then left leg/foot. In between I had a 48 hour gastrointestinal "virus" which was violent in nature and left me shaking and sweating for 2 days. Prior to all of this I was taking Tagamet and Prilosec like crazy and am now beginning to investigate the B-12 connection. I lost my appetite, lost 6 pounds, had depression/anxiety, and my legs have felt"heavy" at times and "weak" others. It waxes and wanes. I had labs drawn, all negative, but interestingly enough  B-12 level was 300 (low "normal"). After the stomach part of the virus I started taking a B supplement, and I think its amazing that my levels were such a low normal. Could I have knocked out the intrinsic factor with the Tagamet and Prilosec enough to produce B-12 neuro symptoms? I started taking 1000mcg B-12 today (had just been taking 100 mcg)and symptoms have been better the last few days. MRI is scheduled next week. I don't think this is MS, do you? I have had no visual changes, no dropping things, no falling down, just WEIRD tingling, heat, pins and needles and then the stomach complaints and weight loss.

I understand completely.  I have been having parasethesias since August 06, but it got really bad over Christmas during a bout with what seemed to be a stomach virus??? Diarrhea for 5 days, could hardly walk up stairs.  Since then, parasthesias in feet and hands worse...weakness in legs comes and goes along with tightness in calves that make me feel unbalanced and on the verge of not being able to walk.  I got an MRI, one lesion on the corpus callosum, but it was there 4 years ago, so my neuro is 99.99% sure it's not MS.  Bloodwork normal, except a increased immunoglobulin.  Nerve conduction normal.  Sooo, I have given up and I'm seeing a chiropractor.  Not sure what's going on, but at my worst I can feel a shock sensation through my arms/hands if I drop my head (L'Hermittes sign?)  Anyway, my point is, you are not the only one dealing with these weird symptoms.  I'm a 31 yo female.  My neuro has given up and is sending me to a rheumatologist for fibromyalgia....which means he doesn't know what's wrong.  Keep posting and you may find some answers, or at least comfort in knowing others are feeling your pain.
