seizures/epilepsy

seizures/epilepsy

I have a seizue disorder that began when I was in my 30's.  I do not lose conscienceness, but I have the loss of bodily-control-jerking and short-term memory loss.  I am also bi-polar and have had severe panic attacks that bring these seizures on.  Over the years, I have learned to avoid 'triggers' and am on depakote.  I hadn't had a seizure in a very long time when I was injured at work; a hit across the upper back and neck.  I had a seizure the next day, and another a week later.  Panic attacks began again, as well as sever depression.  I was hospitalized.  My question is:  Could  the accident have caused the seizure?  and then lead to the depression and panic attacks?  I am in constant pain in my neck and back, and have terrible headaches daily.  I've been to many doctors and am in pain management.

Hi.

What happened during the work-related accident? What hit you at the back and neck? Were any imaging tests done such as an X-ray or MRI? What was the diagnosis for the pain you have been experiencing?

It would appear that the injury has caused you significant pain which could actually be triggering your seizures, although a brain injury or concussion cannot be ruled out at this time which could also contribute to your symptoms.

Are you taking anything now for the panic attacks? Theoretically, the pain from the injury could also possibly be associated with your panic attacks and it would be best to be back on your medications if you have not done so (please do this under doctor supervision).

You will know for sure that the injury has been the root cause of recurrence of your seizures and panic attacks if relief of the headaches and pain would also resolve the other conditions.

Hope this helps.
