sensory/neuro symptoms

I am 38 yrs female with 4mnth baby. Headaches in pregnancy and hypertension.Went to see an osteopath 4weeks ago manipulation to thoracic area, area very sore and tender and Left side neck ache and stiffness under the jaw. Since then had numbness in hands ring and little finger and back of hands,occassional  in L foot, pain in neck(X ray normal),numbness in neck area,lump and tightness in the throat, occ mild tongue twitch,sleep disturbances and a wobblyness feeling in my head both when asleep and sometimes during the day.No tremoring, hands and feet can sometimes feel scalded. Numbness is slight in the face but generally creeps all over the face just feels tight and slightly numb to the touch, this does come and go and can sometimes be only on the right side of face, neck is painful and I do have crackling sensation in neck at times, and both ears feel tender, I have also had a feeling of fluid in the ear as if trickling, and my throat is sore and am a bit hoarse feels likeI'm getting a cold but no temperature and nothing developing.MRI w/o contrast normal. Due to see a neurologist in 2 weeks.I would very much appreciate an opinion as am very scared. Dr ruled out MS on examination.Am in the medical profession.Many Thanks..

MS cannot be excluded on physical exam alone.  It IS a clinical diagnosis, of which characteristic abnormalities can aid immensely in the diagnosis, but absense of abnormalities does not rule it out.  You need to see a good neurologist.  The onset of the sensory symptoms right after manipulation is concerning.  Not all spinal manipulation is a good thing, and injuries do happen.
MRI of brain without contrast and without MRI of spine w/ and w/o contrast is required to truly state that they are normal with regard to diagnosing MS.  There are many things - much less serious than MS - which fit your problems.  The burning/numbness does sound more like pain from irritated nerves and the sudden onset of all of them is not very classic for MS.

The ear, throat, congestion symptoms may well be not related.  Your symptoms there fit common problems like nasal allergies (and it is Spring) with chronic post-nasal drip (PND).  That could also be the cause of the pain/tightness in the jaw (as in mildly swollen lymph nodes which often accompany PND) &  "lump and tightness in throat" could be also due to post-nasal drip and also common in anxiety.

As hard as it is, try not to get too worked up until you can see your neuro.  Meditate, pray, relaxation exercises, whatever.   Anxiety heightens and can cause sensory and pain symptoms.  Twitching and numbness of face, hands and feet are common with hyperventilation as you are probably aware. Also, anxiety, and fear for our long-term health is heightened with having a new, little one.  Hang in there and keep us all posted.

Quix again.  My post - when I reread it - was a little garbled. Sorry.  I meant to say that the initial work-up of symptoms like you have is a thorough neuro exam and an MRI with and without contrast AND an MRI of the cervical spine with and without contrast.  The blood work up is also very extensive and is often done after the MRI.  Work up proceeds in a fairly stepwise manner.

Thanks for your comments. My blood results so far ghave all been ok, just the rsr that was very slighlty raised. I see the neorologist on Monday next week. Best Wishes..
