severe sciatica

I am a 53 yr.old male who had a spinal fusion at L5S1in 2005. Six months later I developed severe sciatica in my right calf and buttock. It became so bad I had another surgery and had a 15 millimeter chromium cobalt sphere at the disc above the fusion, L5,4. I still had sciatica but not as bad. The sciatica got worse, had mri's, x-rays, ct scans which alledgedly showed some scar tissue around the L5S1 nerve root. I went to a pain center and had a series of injections to loosen up the scar tissue, but to no avail. I played a round of golf a few weeks after the injections and about a week later I developed severe sciatica in my left leg, in the calf, ankle and buttock area. It's gotten so bad that I"ve considered suicide, but have a wife,  three children and now two grandkids. I've tried all types of medicine, such as anti-inflamitories, pain pills, lyrica, etc. The surgeon who operated on me told me that according to the films the fusion looks great, there is no stenosis and that my hamstrings are extremely tight and I need to do extensive stretching to stretch the scar tissue and the sciatic nerve. But it's almost impossible to do that being in chronic pain. I just started neurontin and am hoping this will help. I was also given cymbalta, but after getting on-line and reading the horrible effects from it I decided not to try it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've thought of trying accupunture just to try and get some type of relief. Thanks in advance, Gill
