shaking

why would i be shaking, my whole body it affect's everything movement leg's, voice arm's and hand's. i current take neruontin, pamelor, lortab, soma, avina {recently}, lexapro, i was in a car accident nov 2nd, 2004. i have been doing this {shaking} recently in the last couple month's. do have any answer's ???

Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of your symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

There are many possible causes to whole body shaking. If it is episodes of vigorous shaking associated with loss of consciousness, one possibility is a a seizure. If it is sort of a continuous fine, high frequency (fast) tremor that occurs particularly if you hold your arms up or try to use your hands, one possibility is called essential tremor. Essential tremor is a type of tremor disorder that very frequently runs in families. The exact cause is not known. It often worsens with stress or anxiety and it improves with some alcohol intake. Essential tremor can affect the arms, legs, voice, and hands. Another possibility is that you have what is called enhanced physiologic tremor: everyone has a very slight tremor, and in some people stress or anxiety just bring this tremor out. If your tremor is really just sudden and brief muscle twitches, this could be what is called myoclonus, which has various causes.

There are many other potential causes to tremor. I recommend you see your primary doctor and he/she may choose to refer you to a neurologist, and possibly a movement disorders specialist, if necessary. Many of the types of tremor are treatable with various medications.
