sharp head/scalp pain

I have been having periodically very sharp pains in my head, mostly on the right side. I have had MRI and nerve testing by a neurologist, was prescribed neurotin to be taken three times a day. I keep telling my primary care doctor that I am still having these pains but he just say, "give the neurotin time". Any suggesstion as to what could be my problem?

I have been having really sharp shooting pain on the right side of my head that starts at the front and shoots to the top of my head. they come so quick and sharp until they almost always make me shout out and sometimes a quick dizziness. they last about 3 hrs. then stop and start up again. I sometimes get a throbing pain in my ears but that don't last long either. has anyone ever experinced anything as this and if so what did you do to stop the pain. I will see my Dr. next week but until then should i be monitoring for signs of possible stroke or something?

Hello Dear,
Periodic pains might be due to migraine. You should take a second opinion as it seems to be migraine. Is  nausea, vomiting associated with the headache? You can also try for sumatriptan in combination with NSAID like naproxen.
