I have had pretty bad headaches all of my life.  I have recently started getting headaches that are worse and more frequent than they have been in the past.  I have also started to get sharp shooting pains on the right side of my head.  They only last for a cuple of seconds but they are quite painful and frankly they are scaring me.  Please help!!!!!!!

Hi,
How are you feeling?
Sharp shooting kind of pain suggests some compression or impingement of nerve. Compression or impingement of nerve can be at the exit of nerve from cervical vertebra or along its course down to its dermatome. The area you are describing comes under Cervical 2 vertebra.
Hence if a MRI scan is done it will help in further ruling out the pathology.
Ideally I feel you need to consult an orthopaedician as early as possible.
A review from neurologist will also help in coming to a conclusion.
Hope this helps.
Bye.
