I have been feeling the pain for about a month. The pain is there for almost the whole day.I dont feel the pain when i sleep.Pain starts from the time i wake up.I have no history of injuries.I went to a Nuero Consultant and he advised me to take a CT-Scan.The Scan report says every thing is normal except one line.It says Prominent cisterna magna Noted.Could this be the reason for my headache.
Hi
Hope you are doing fine. It would be helpful to know if this was the first time that you experienced this headache or had similar episodes previously. If your symptoms are persistent or if you have any other associated symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, visual changes, or seizures, you should consult a neurologist for a proper evaluation.
Headaches are the most common neurologic symptom. Majority of the headaches are benign. They can have a variety of causes like vascular, muscular, raised intracranial pressure, tumours, fever, eye strain and some metabolic disturbances.
Primary headaches are not associated with any other diseases (example migraine, tension headaches and cluster headaches) while secondary headaches are caused by some associated disease. Secondary headaches may be due to withdrawal from caffeine, insomnia or lack or proper sleep, high blood pressure, brain tumors, strokes, meningitis among other causes.
The exact diagnosis would depend on a detailed history with respect to the exact site, duration, time of the day, intensity, any associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting, visual loss, any neurological symptoms along with your past medical history.
The diagnostic workup of chronic headaches might include a skull x-ray, x-rays of the sinuses and cervical spine, CT scan of the brain, lumbar puncture and blood tests.
