shingles without a rash

HiI I have been out of work 3 months. Ive. had every test known to man. I have severe pain in my lower left rib. I was in the emergency room 4 times with terrible pain, Its calmed down some with neurotin but cant move to much because of the pain. Im getting an epidore the second one. They keep telling me now. its shingles without a rash. and I might have it the rest of my life, Is anyone in the same condition, no one knows the pain unless they have had it.will the nerve pain ever go away.  Thanks

Im so sorry to hear you are in so much pain!  I had normal shingles when I was 13 but the telltale rash was there and we caught it in time.  If the catch it within 72hours they can give you herpes medication because it is a different form of the same illness, and it gets it under control. But with no rash, I dont know how they can even call that shingles. I would ask about the medication for herpes anyways, I dont see it hurting you at all. They should just keep you on it until it gets a little better?  I hope they find something other than just neurotin to help you.   It is hard to say for sure your pain will subside, but I believe it will. Try to stay as active as much you can in the mean time so your muscles dont atrophy too much, so sorry. Hope you find some relief!
