shooting pains in scalp

by teachasst, May 14, 2008 05:14AM
Lately I have been having severe sharp shooting pains in a specific area of the scalp on the right side.  The scalp in this region is also remarkably warmer than anywhere else on the head.  I have had several coworkers confirm this.  Upon research of this it seems to be possibly anxiety, but nothing I have looked at so far has addressed the temperature change of the specific area of the scalp.  I have never experienced anxiety problems before, but do suffer from depression (although situations in life are stressful at this point in time).  I did have this same shooting pain and hotness several months ago.  It usually will last for a day or two and then go away for a time period.  Just looking for thoughts before I head to the dr.  Thanks

Hello Dear,
You should try not to take stress and do not get anxious although it is difficult to it.Anxiety attacks not only cause weakness of the mind but also of the body and may cause hypertension and other psycho somatic problems. You should overcome your anxiety and increase your confidence which may help you.You should get  your blood pressure levles monitored regularly and get a timely check up done by a neurologist.

I used to get something similar to that.  I had several years where I was feeling worry constantly about my health -- I ended up with the sensation that my hair had just been pulled out of a ponytail (if youre female youll know exactly what I mean!) very sore and at times part of my scalp would be hotter to the touch than the rest.  I believe it was inflamed nerve endings. It sounds like what you may be experiencing.
