Hello, I am female, 48, in good health and relatively good shape.I have had 2 yrs of very bothersome neck, shoulder and arm pain. It is intermittent and varies in intensity. However, the pain can be excrutiating at times-especially under my shoulder blade. In november 2004 I had a cervical MRI which was normal.I just recently had it repeated since it had been 2 yrs and the pain has gotten worse. To my surprise, a significant C6-7 disc protrusion and disc degeneration was found(I don't have the exact wording on the report.)I also had an EMG that showed mild carpal tunnel. My next appointment with the doctor is not for a couple of weeks, but I am baffled by the MRI finding. Why did this show up now and not 2yrs ago when the pain started and also, the protrusion is to the left, but all of my pain is on my right side. No problems on the left side at all. Would love to hear some feedback about this. Thanks!
