shoulder pain and tingling fingers at night

shoulder pain and tingling fingers at night

At night, in recent weeks, I sometimes wake up with my right fingers tingling--as if my hand has fallen asleep.  My right shoulder, apparently from inside the joint, aches as if I've slept crooked on it--or as if it's arthritic, which it could be.  This happens most freqeuntly when I have been lying on my left side.  I mention this because it surprises me that the shoulder under pressure does not hurt, but the shoulder on top aches.

I would like suggestions about what might be causing this pain, and I'd like to know how to get through the night without frequent waking caused by pain.  How do I treat this pain?

And could this be a symptom of angina?

Hi there. Shoulder pain can be due to variety of causes and tingling and numbness in ring finger due to brachial plexus nerve root compression.  The causes are bursitis and rotator cuff tendonitis, rotator cuff tear, frozen shoulder, calcific tendonitis, shoulder instability, shoulder dislocation, labral tear, another type of labral tear is  SLAP lesion, arthritis, etc. you need to see an orthopaedician  to investigate the lesion and the cause for nerve entrapment. Treatment would depend on the cause of the injury. Take care.

I have had this same feeling.  You symptoms align up with a pinched nerve.  It would cause the pain and numbness and symptoms only on one side.  I never really got a clear answer bout why the pain was on the opposite side I was laying on, but it the nerve is already compressed it doesn't really matter how you sleep, although however you are sleeping (even if it is on the opposite side) could be irritating the problem.  You might want to see a doctor for a prescription as muscle relaxants are normally quite helpful for a pinched nerve as well as pain medications - you can try OTC ones first.  Time, rest and possibly heat and ice can help to relieve the pain faster but these things take time to heal.  Try to find the most comfortable position for you - either side - to get the most sleep w/o pain.  Also try the pain relief I mentioned above.  If it doesn't get better in a week or two I would see a doctor about an alternate diagnosis and to make sure you don't have any bulging disks.  Feel Better : D

I agree with the doctor as a pinched nerve and nerve compression are synonymous.  Regarding your question about angina - angina is a symptom in itself and your other pain cannot be a symptom of a symptom.  Angina is a word used to describe chest pain, while your shoulder pain could be related to your chest pain they cannot be symptoms of each other. : D Good Luck
