There is a possibility that this pain is due to nerve root compression as a result of surgery. The nerve involved could be radial nerve.
Have you been undergoing rehab therapy?
I would suggest you to discuss this issue with your treating doctor. In the meantime you can take B12 supplements.
i have been going physical thearpy for 7 weeks. went back to my surgeon he said the same thing you did. gave me cortizone shot. said physical thearpy 4 more weeks, if i still have the pain after that in my thumb and hand will send me for a nerve conduction test. i have read stories about nerve damage and my symtoms were like that and it scared me and i am stll a little worried. so i hope it is just from swelling from surgery and will get better. how long do you think it will last, since i had the injection.?
