shunt failure

shunt failure

23 year old female with pseudotumor cerebri
lumbar peritoneal shunt. 2 weeks of nausea and vomiting, could this be a sign of shunt malfinction or just a new symptom of my pseudotumor cerebri?

In my experience when patients have a shunt in and start to develop neurologic complaints the majority of time it is a shunt problem. You need to speak to your neurosurgeon immediatly regarding your shunt so that you can be seen and evaluated. A spinal tap may need to be done to check your CSF pressure and determine if your symptoms change with removal of some of the fluid. You need to see your doctor so that a complete physical can be done and this problem can be eliminated. Good luck.
