siezures

I was wondering if a child that has seizures can be violent while having a seizures.My son has the episodes where he goes off and his eyes look glassy and blank. He threatens to hit kill bite cusses and etc during these. If i give him a depakote which is his seizure pill if i can get him to take it he will chill out a mellow after about 30 minutes after taking Please I need some answers have read that there are behavioral seizures and also called raging seizures. my son was diagnosed with lennox gaustant syndrome would the vns help him.

Hi there.

What has been happening may not be a classic seizure since generalized seizures would present as loss of consciousness and stiffening of extremities.  From what you have described, I believe there might be some problem with the frontal lobes of the brain that controls behavior (so called 'frontal lobe syndrome').  there can be a viral infection of that area, or localized hyperactivity of the cells found in that lobe.

A possibility of behavioral problems such as anti-social personality disorder, or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) may also come into play.  I suggest you have him checked by a neurologist to narrow down the possibilities.
