small nerve neuropathy and Morton's Neuroma

Last May, I fell and twisted my foot and ankle. In July, I had x-rays that showed no damage, but it was very painful to walk and, at times, I couldn't even sleep at night because of the pain. In August, my podiatrist diagnosed the pain as a result of Morton's Neuroma. He gave me an alcohol/Marcaine shot to treat the neuroma. Two days later, I experienced severe pain in the calf on the same side of my body. It was as though my leg was being squeezed and set on fire. The next day, the pain was gone from my calf. Two weeks later, the same Morton's treatment was prescribed. Two days later, again the extreme pain in my calf and some in my chest. It went away the next day. One week later, my mouth began to tingle and burn, the next day my foot went on fire, day after day, the pain and burning spread throughout my body, but not so much in my torso. I am having a skin biopsy next week to determine if I have small nerve neuropathy. Could the injection, or the medication within, for the Morton's neuroma have triggered the neuropathy? It seems to me that is all a bit more than coincidental.  I haven't had an MRI of my foot, which still hurts from the fall. Thank you.
