speech problems

Hello, I am 50 cholesterol is normal - blood pressure is normal. However sometimes I experience some problems with my speech. This last weekend before new years day. I said key in blanket but wanted to say take my contact out of my eye. I was somewhat stressed thinking of some work i had to do. we had been on a weekend away and I did not want to come home and we did come home a day earlier then planned. I remember I just unlocked the door and was thinking about getting my key back from my neice who was house sitting. I also had remembered seeing she had made the bed. My contact was bugging me and I told my husband key in blanket in stead of contact out of my eye.
I have been tired lately and I get  a weird feeling in my head sometimes. Just a little spacey ( brain fog) i have not been on meds lately but melatoin for sleep. I wake up feeling great but by afternoon I am tired . I do take a  good multi vitamin.

Hello.

I note that you are taking melatonin supplementation for sleep. I see your present problem as a result of physical exertion and lack of sleep. What you experienced was not a speech problem actually. It was a substitution which occurred at a higher level. This can happen when the brain needs rest.

Do you get tired easily as the day progresses ?

yes I do get tired in the afternooon. I want to start working out again but when I get home from work around 3:00 I really tired. I have been haveing problems sleeping for about two years so I take the melatonin 2.5 mg at night. I used to sleep deeply but lately I do not. I suppose I could be starting menopause.

Hello.

The tiredness is not related to a possible beginning of menopause. The tired feeling may be a symptom of chronic fatigue. This is evident from the fact that you are willing to work more, but the body does not allow you to.

If I am not too intrusive, can I ask if there is any work related stress ?

Hello,
I have a great Job that I love  but it can be very stressful. I present abstinence until marriage in the schools. Sti's/ relationships ect..... I have five differnt curriculums 6-7-8-9th grade. I recently have been training a new teacher to take over some schools that I can not do. She is a good teacher but is getting on my nerves a bit. I am in a new school every week. I spend fridays unpacking a bag and re-packing for the following week. This is the 3rd teacher I have trained in 2 years. Its nice having a co-teacher when I have 6 or 7 classes a day but I really enjoy working alone. I have around 50 to 150 students per day. I am always trying to please parents, teachers, students ect....
Today I went and got my hair done and gave the girl the tip but forgot to give her the check I wrote. I know I have alot on my plate as far as work.  I was upset about something my co-teacher did today. So I chalked up forgetting the check as being upset. I will be training her for 3 more weeks then she can contact her own schools. If she does not find any of her own schools I'll be working with her in march, april and may. I was taking a medicine for adhd all last year but I went off it this summer. It was 10 mg of Addrall xr. Even with the meds I was tired by the afternoon. I went off them because my blood pressure went up. I thought I'd work with out the meds thinking maybe it was not such a good idea being on them. I discussed it with my doctor first. Now I am wondering if I should take them again. Vickie

Hello.

I guess training someone to work as efficiently as you work is itself a big stress.

From your description, I can sense that your mind is actually running a bit faster than it can sustain. I may be wrong. You have too many things to do. Now, in all this 'hurry' (I couldn't find a better word), the short term memory does not register all the information. And some information does slip out. ( like handing over that check). Adderall (adderrall) does help in such situations.

You need to discuss it with your specialist and consider starting it again. But more importantly, you will do well to slow down a bit.

Thank you for the comments I had concern I might be getting Alzheimer's. You have erased some of my fears. I will see a doctor soon.
