spinal meningioma post op

8 months ago my daughter had a successful operation...to remove a meninigioma from her spine
now she is having symptoms that were typical before the surgery...like all of a sudden her legs feel heavy and like they are being squeezed and that she might lose bladder control....is this normal during healing??

Without the ability to examine and obtain a history, I can not tell you what the exact cause of the symptoms is. However I will try to provide you with some useful information.

Was the meningioma in the lower spinal region? How large was the meningioma? The symptoms your daughter is having may be related to pre-existing damage caused by the meningioma, which may take time to heal and may never completely heal. The prognosis depends on the extent of damage that had already occurred and timing to the surgical procedure.

I would suggest that you and your daughter discuss her symptoms with her surgeon.

the meningioma was upper spine...between her shoulder blade area...it was the size of a penny...apparently there was no damage to the spine...the surgeon had to "scrape" the tumor off but said the spine may be "mad" but should be good...we just could not understand why symptoms were showing up after 8 months...could it be just the healing process ...like in reverse of what happened before the surgery??? because that was part of her first symtoms (symptoms)???
