strange burning sensation

strange burning sensation

Hello, I am 23 years old and lately I have been having some strange pains in my head. For a while I have been having a really quick (about 2 sec) stabbing pain in my head that qoes away as soon as it comes. I can never tell when it is going to happen, it just does and then it goes away. But lately I have also had this burning sensation in the back and top of my head, and also my ears. Because of my worries and the additional symptom, I immediately went to the ER. They did a CAT scan on me to rule out anything serious (tumors etc) and asked me a bunch of questions. The CAT scan didn't turn up anything abnormal so they reffered me to another doctor and a neurologist. The problem is, is that I will not have insurance to do this until 2008 and I do not want to wait that long to find out what is wrong with me. Along with the burning sensation I also have some typical cold/sinus symptoms such as dranage down my throat, occasional pressue in my nose and forehead, and occasional sneezing. I do no think the burning sensation has anything to do with the stabbing pain I sometimes get because I have not had it in a while. But I would like to know if the burning sensation has anything to do with allergies because it seems like the 2 have come together at the same time. And if it may be, is there anything out there I can take to make the sensation go away? Just to be clear on some other possible issues, Im not having major headaches, I am not dizzy, I am not overweight, I do not have high blood pressure, I am not allergic to anything besides dust and pollen, I do not have a fever, I do not have blurred vision and I have not been hospitlized for anything like this before, except maybe when I was a baby for ear infection. If there is anything that you can suggest it would be great. I know it is difficult to do this over the internet but I am just concerned about this issue. thanks
