You don't need to worry about this at all: it is actually normal to lose the awareness of a smell of a substance after a few minutes. This is our brain's way of making sure we're not constantly distracted by sensory stimuli being continuously present in our awareness.
If it only occured recently and you could smell for longer times previously then visit a neurologist and get your olfactory nerve checked for your satisfaction.
