stroke -left occipital lobe

by Eilen-Groves, Oct 05, 1998 12:00AM

A best friend, 66 female in South Bend, IN, had a very serious stroke week ago Sunday effecting her left occipital lobe.  She will now survive but family seeking best rehab facility for her because she lived very full life with retired husband, grandchildren & internet.  Please refer to rehab facilities that help recover this woman.

Thanks for your question.  The question would actually be much better answered
by a local neurologist, because of his/her familiarity with the nearby
facilities - I am assuming that your friend would NOT want to move away
just to seek an alternative Rehab facility.  There are a number of academic
institution in immediate vicinity of South Bend, including Notre Dame Univ.
and Purdue Univ.  Furthermore, a major medical center like Chicago is not
beyond the reasonable travelling distance, which might be helpful at least
during the initial steps of a Rehab Program (in particular, the Rehab.
Institute of Chicago, affiliated with the Northwestern Univ. is one of the
centers of excellence in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the country)
I hope this information is helpful.  Best of luck.
