stroke and dull head feelings.

Greetings to one and all,
My sister (33yrs)hand a Brain Stem stroke (2cm region mottled  abnormal signal intensity is demonstrated within the left side) large left –sided acute /subacute pontine infarct.  At first the Neurologist thought it was a minor stroke, but after the MRI he said that since it was at the stem, it is quite large.  From the very beginning  all she suffered was  a little weakness on the right side…  and now , three weeks later ,she has regained 90 percent of her strength..  The doctor says that  amazingly she is going to make a full recovery given the fact that some people even with smaller stroke have worse  symptoms than her.. however one problem that persists is that she feels heavy or like a dull sensation in her head and a little dizzy at times,,  I was wondering if anyone  has similar sensation in their  head  like dullness etc ..… thank you.

I agree with mickie.. I'm 23 now and when i was 13 I had the same exact kind of stroke.. brain stem.. when i had it I lost all feeling in my right side for a couple of monhts.. speech and more..10 yrs later.. i am fine just have migraines ... If your sister is experiencing just that- its a wonderful thing.. and have patience.. Sometimes it will go away.. and sometimes it won't .. or will years later

hi I just wanted to say that I am glad that other than the dullness an dizziness that your sister is feeling that she is doing good. First off I will tell you that 3 years ago I had a stroke with a brain bleed on the right side, spent 2 months in the hospital, left there in a wheelchair, 8 months later I was out of the wheelchair but a year later and sometimes even now I will have like a numbness  feeling in the side off my head and when the stroke happen for a good while I also had dizzy spells. It is not uncommon what your sister is experiancing, being a vet I get my medical care from the VA hospital  and talk to alot of vets of all ages who have also gone through similiar circumstances  I don't no if your Neurologist has said anything to you some dont' my first one didn't but sometimes when you have a stroke even a small one can cause damage to some of your brain cells and nerves these things take some time to heal  and that is what your sister is basically experiencing now  I know how she feels and I can only imagine how worried it makes you but  be patient like I said it will take alittle time.  Take care  mickie52
