Hi Everyone!

Good news!  I found this site, http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/myoclonus/detail_myoclonus.htm and was reading about the different types of Mycolonus and what people do to treat it.

I read that some people get relief by using the supplement 5-HTP.  I used 50mg twice yesterday and once this morning.  I have not had any jerks since I started using it.  I really hope this is a permanent fix with daily use.  Here is what is weird...I sell nutritional supplements and had a bottle of it in my office.  I've tried other supplements that seemed to help, but only temporarily. I hope this works continuously.  I'm using Natrol brand, but any major brand will work.  Just stay away from off-brand stuff, as I read that the cheaper ones can have impurities.  It's not that expensive, though.

I am a 23 year old female.Oflate my neck is jerking very minutely. I can feel it. If i try to concentrate on my jerks, i am a getting a feeling of nausea. I did not meet with any accidents and was not administered any drugs prior to this?
Is it because of weakness or do i have any serious problem?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Welcome to the neurology forum of medhelp. Thanks for writing in. there could be various causes for these involuntary neck movements that you are having. These could be movement disorders related with hyperkinetic movements of face, neck and tongue due to neuroleptic drugs, , sydenham’s chorea where you may have irregular, abrupt, involuntary movements of neck, limbs, face and trunk and cervical dystonias. These could be tics and tourette syndrome or myoclonus  in response to head or spinal cord injury, stroke, brain tumors, kidney or liver failure.  Please consult  a neurologist at the earliest for detailed evaluation. If you are on any drugs which could be responsible for the jerks, discontinue it  and correct any metabolic derangement. Various anti epileptic drugs are used to treat these disorders like sodium valproate, barbiturates etc. epilepsy per se should also be ruled out. I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me for any further clarifications.
