symptoms are getting worse

I am 54, female, in menopause.  I have been diagnosed with subacute combined degeneration of spinal cord due to B12 (1999) last shot was two weeks ago; fibromyalgia, migraines, overactive bladder, mild atrophy in optic nerves and PTSD.  I have noticed over last year symptoms getting worse. MRI in 2/02 which showed:  "Foci of altered signal in left periventicular deep in white matter and a punctate focus in left paramedian region of the mid-pons. Nonspecific in appearance but most likely are of chronic ischemic origin."  TIA in 2/02.

This past seveal months I have had increasing problems:  1)  vision is worse with any kind of flash of light (day or night) throws vision off and makes me feel unbalanced;  2) Muscle jerks which are violent, sudden, and singular. It now involves entire shoulder, leg, entire body and in past few days:  just head, 3) I have to use cane but now even inside my own home. There are times my legs will not work right...like trying to take a step and now sometimes have to look at leg to see if moving. It sort of trembles and makings little jerking motions like signal is not getting there right.

I had all kinds of problems not getting treatment at the Prescott VA. I cannot believe these symptoms are due to PTSD. just moved to Wyoming and waiting for appointments now.  I do not understand why muscle jerking is so much worse in last month or so.  I would say this is my worse problem right now along with problems with legs not working right.  This is scary to me as only 54.

I'm really sorry that you are getting harrassed on this issue.
People don't understand real pain until they experience it themselves.  I have a oliogodendroglioma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and just about fed up with constant pain in my left side.  I am medicated with Darvon N because the doctors don't know what is wrong with me, but after going to the diabetic forum I think that I most likely have diabetic neuropathy.  I will be having a MRI on my ribs and spinal cord to try and find out if I have anything going on.
Pain is a terrible thing to experience, I was recently told by my doctor that pain is worse if you are depressed about having pain.  Doesn't make sense to me, but I am not the doctor.  I do know that I have seizures everyday from this tumor in my brain, I also have severe pain in my left lower ribs and spine, and really hope that there is going to be an answer to all this.  I am 55, not overweight now since stopping the Neurontin.  My blood sugar is better managed also.
Hang in there Patches!

You are so rude, they ought to take you and your comments out of this forum.  You don't deserve a voice in this if you can't show some human kindness.

I have never been on this sight before, but I just cannot get over how rude some of you are, no compassion for people at all. Are you taking your miseries out on everyone else.

Are you shooting for idiotic statement of the year award, or are you blessing us with your ridiculous statements just for our own amusement? Patches is sick and progressively getting worse. I happen to have a lot of the same symptoms. Picture this- I am 43 years old, not even an ounce overweight, and I am an active and productive person. ( and I detest bon bons!)When pain changes your lifestyle, it's scary.
So if you want to play armchair doctor, and share your insights, watch E.R. with a friend, and guess the ending.

Now why am I not surprised by your latest lame attempt at "humour"! Do you know Patches? NO! Do you know how it feels to be so ill and so worried ? NO? Most of the people who post here do so because they are worried and immature, uneducated fools like you should clear off and leave innocent people alone. you obviously read these forums for some sad kick to laugh and degrade the people who post here! You really do'nt warrent any one reacting to your' childish drivvel, but I know patches doesn't need hassle from an obvious idiot! Now go away, learn some manners and we'll see you when youv'e GROWN UP!!

I flexed my brain, and now my fingers. Guess what finger i'm giving you. Patches has been "getting worse" for about 2 years now. I recommend she give up "cyber dx" and go see a shrink. Why do i somehow picture a 300 lb middle age women sitting in front of a tv eating bonbons and wondering why her feet are numb.

What EXACTLY was that comment about patches about? Patches has as much right as any one of us to post here! Also SHE has a name . Rude remarks only upset people. Engage brain BEFORE flexing fingers on your keyboard!!!

Recall your previous posts well. As I remember, you had a marked case of B12 deficiency that was manifest primarily by spinal cord and eye problems.  A recommendation was made for repeat exam and possibly MRI spine. Some of these symptoms may be related to the underlying B12 problem as some patients have permanent damage to their neurological system even with adequate B12 replacement. Not sure what the muscle jerks could be. Glad you are starting over with some new docs so they can get a fresh look at you without the prior bias of PTSD. A formal neuro exam will be helpful in pointing your docs towards the appropriate workup. Also, an eye exam by an ophthalmologist (not optometrist) should also be considered with your new eye symnptoms and history of optic atrophy. Finally physical therapy may be of some benefit. Good luck.
